Microsoft Office On iPhone……

Apple iPhone and iPod touch users could finally see Microsoft Office join the thousands of apps available from the iTunes store according to a new report.

While Microsoft has a vested interest in promoting rival OS Windows Mobile, Stephen Elop, President of Microsoft Business Division, hinted that we might see Office make its way to the iPhone some time soon.

TechCrunch reported the comments from the Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco where Elop gave a keynote address.

When interviewer and Internet veteran Tim O’Reilly questioned him further about Office on the iPhone, Elop back tracked a little saying “not yet, keep watching.”

Elop did confirm a cloud-based Office suite was on the horizon, with limited features and with the possibility of a free but ad-supported option. “Beta code in not too long a period of time, but not this calendar year,” added Elop.
