T-Mobile Big Android Push

T-Mobile is readying an aggressive push into the home with a variety of devices all running the Android operating system.
First out of the blocks will be a new Android-based smartphone built by Huawei, but running on the T-Mobile network. The Chinese company showed off the phone, dubbed the G3, at this year’s Mobile World Congress.

The G3 is intended as an entry level smartphone, and will feature a Wi-Fi and 3G connection and 5MP camera. Speaking to MobileToday, a Huawei representative confirmed that the phone would be making an appearance in the UK “this year”.

According to the New York Times, T-Mobile is also planning to sell a home phone early next year and a tablet computer soon after, both running Android.

The tablet will reportedly feature a 7in screen and synchronise with any other T-Mobile devices in the home, inclduing smartphones, the home phone and any other devices running Android.

A T-Mobile spokesman, Peter Dobrow declined to discuss any future company products but confirmed plans for several devices based on Android.
