Samsung is introducing the next generation of the popular BlackJack line of smartphones, and the i637 Jack has multiple features for the mobile professional.

The Jack has a BlackBerry-like form factor and a full QWERTY keyboard for composing messages. The handset is enterprise friendly, as it can receive corporate e-mail on the go as well as e-mails from Web-based providers like Gmail and Yahoo Mail.
The smartphone is powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 and comes preloaded with software that enables users to manage Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents. The Jack will be upgradeable to Windows Mobile 6.5 when it is released later this year, and this will add a host of new features, including a major revamp of the user interface.

To stay connected on the go, the Jack will have Wi-Fi, EDGE, and 3G connectivity. The cellular data also can be used with the included GPS chip for location-based services like local searches. AT&T will include its Navigator software on the device for turn-by-turn directions in multiple countries.

Although not as robust as an iPhone, the Jack will likely be a capable multimedia device. With Windows Media Player Mobile preloaded, the handset can play multiple types of audio and video files. The Jack also will come with a 3.2-megapixel camera that’s capable of recording videos, and users don’t have to worry about running out of storage because the memory is expandable with the microSD slot.

The Jack will be available May 19 for $99.99 with a new two-year contract with AT&T.
